Regina Public Schools requires your name and email address so that we can invite you to be our guest of honour at the grand opening if your submission is selected. This information will only be stored for as long as is necessary, and in accordance with our Administrative Procedure 550.
Terms and Conditions – School Naming Submission
By submitting a proposed name for the new Regina Public Schools school currently under construction in Harbour Landing, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Eligibility
Submissions are open to residents of Regina, Saskatchewan. There is no cost to submit a proposed name.
2. Submission Requirements
Each proposed name must be appropriate for use as the official name of a Regina Public Schools facility.
Proposed names must not:
- contain offensive, discriminatory, defamatory or otherwise inappropriate language;
- contain the name of an individual, whether living or deceased; or
- contain the name “Harbour Landing.”
Regina Public Schools reserves the right to reject any submission that does not meet these requirements or that, in the opinion of the school division, is otherwise unsuitable.
3. Originality and Intellectual Property
By submitting a proposed name, you represent and warrant that:
- the proposed name is your own submission and, to the best of your knowledge, does not infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, trade name, personality right or other intellectual property or proprietary right of any person or organization;
- your submission does not knowingly violate any applicable federal or provincial law or regulation, including applicable intellectual property legislation in Canada or Saskatchewan; and
- you have the legal right to submit the proposed name for consideration by Regina Public Schools.
Submitting a proposed name does not give the submitter any ownership, copyright, trademark, intellectual property or other proprietary interest in the proposed name or in any name ultimately selected by Regina Public Schools.
4. No Compensation or Recognition
Submission of a proposed name does not create any right to payment, compensation, prize, award, gift, public recognition, attribution or other consideration.
If a submitted name is selected as the name of the new school, the submitter will not receive compensation or ownership rights in connection with the selected name.
Regina Public Schools is under no obligation to identify, acknowledge or otherwise recognize the person who submitted a name that is ultimately selected.
5. Use of Submissions
By submitting a proposed name, you grant Regina Public Schools permission to consider, evaluate, discuss, reproduce and use the proposed name for the purpose of the school naming process and related communications.
Regina Public Schools may use a submitted name, in whole or in part, without further notice to or permission from the submitter and without payment or compensation.
Submission of a proposed name does not guarantee that the name will be considered, shortlisted, recommended to the Board of Education or selected as the official name of the school.
6. Selection Process
Regina Public Schools will review submissions received during the submission period and determine a shortlist of potential names.
A final recommendation will be submitted to the Regina Public Schools Board of Education for consideration. The Board of Education will make the final decision regarding the name of the school.
Regina Public Schools reserves the right to modify, combine, adapt or decline proposed names as part of the review and selection process.
7. Multiple Submissions and Similar Names
Regina Public Schools may receive the same or substantially similar proposed name from more than one person. No submitter will acquire any exclusive right or claim to a proposed name by submitting it first or otherwise.
8. Privacy
Personal information collected through the submission form will be collected, used and disclosed only for purposes related to administering the school naming process and in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and Regina Public Schools' privacy practices.
9. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting a proposed name, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
Regina Public Schools reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions where reasonably necessary to administer the naming process.
